I used to joke with people that God roped me into ministry because he knew that I wouldn’t be Christian if I weren’t. By God’s grace, I can’t imagine a more fundamental thing about me than being a follower of Christ. They compare the Christian life to a journey of sorts, an expedition where you discover God and yourself. But in said quest, you are never alone; you pick up things along the way with fellow companions, both near and far. In my spiritual exploration, Tim Keller has been the sagest guide thus far, and I wouldn’t be the Christian that I am without his ministry.
The passing of Dr. Keller didn’t come to a surprise; he had a long withstanding battle with cancer and though there were moments we thought he had gone into remission, he went to be with the Lord this past Friday. There has already been a deluge of love and adoration from friends and family and I don’t have anecdotal insights to share, but I wanted to honor Dr. Keller with some things I have learned from him.
